I was born and raised in Paraguay, where it is very common to visit a dressmaker 3 to 4 times a year to make new clothes.
At the age of 19, I moved to Mexico City where I studied my bachelor, started my professional career in Sales, obtained a master's degree, got married and became a mom.
At the beginning of 2020, when my daughter was 18 months old, we moved to Oslo, Norway and after 3 months the pandemic started, with the world stopping I learned to sew as a hobby.
With the move I realized how big was our wardrobe and how many times we decided to buy new things without really needing them.
I also realized that my daughter was growing too fast and that many of the clothes she left behind were almost new and many of them with a special meaning for us.
Today, my family and I have an exciting wardrobe by tailoring and repairing our old clothes instead of buying new ones.
At the end of 2022 we moved to Copenhagen and my passion for sewing and the upcycling culture only grew, I realized by transforming our clothes, fixing them or giving them a new use, we can contribute to environmental care.
We can contribute to reduce these emissions by extending the life of our wardrobe. That's why Skrædderi Vestamager's main focus is to give your garments a second life.
What started as a hobby in Norway, became Skrædderi Vestamager in July 2022 in Copenhagen and its mission is helping you to reuse, repair and upcycle your garments in a sustainable way.
From June 2023, Skrædderi Vestamager has moved from a hobby business to something more real and demanding. I see our costumers as a community and it has been so great to see how it has grown from the start.
Welcome all to Skradderi Vestamager,
Ruth.
